These are the strings I grew up playing, in fact I played on Dominants for about 30 years before switching to another brand with a more soloistic sound and longer life-span.  Dominants are mid-price range, making them affordable for most. For playing purposes, I find that Dominant's characteristic warmth, blends very nicely for orchestral and chamber music playing. For a student practing 60 mins a day, these strings may last the best part of 12 months before replacing. As with any strings, the A string (the most played-on string) will fail first, followed by the E. A more serious student practicing 4 hours a day may only get a few months from a Dominant string before replacement is needed. Teachers especially love these strings for working with young children, as they go all the way down to a 1/16th size. This makes string replacement on tiny violins with small a small peg-box much easier, as their is less length to wind on.
